The Riverbend Chalet in Leavenworth
Every day we had something fun planned to do. Our first full day, our 5 year anniversary, began with a delicious breakfast by Matt and Meghan.

We did a little relaxing in the early part of the day accompanied by a walk to the KOA river beach spot down the road.
Me and Coda hanging out at the VERY COLD river
After getting a little sun, we went tubing down the Icicle and Wenatchee Rivers in the afternoon. We were so glad we went tubing on this day because the weather never seemed to get any warmer the other days. As a side note, last year when we were in Leavenworth at this same time it was 100 degrees. This year I don't think it even reached into the 80s! We had a great time floating down the river with our ice chest in tow taking in some much needed sunshine! We just had to be careful about getting in the river because man that water was COLD!!!

Now this is the life!
Dinner of course was made by me and Jason and what could it be...TACOS (Leia's favorite)!! I even managed to successfully make a pretty cool dessert as well. It was a 4th of July Jello Pie, made with a graham cracker pie crust from the store, blue raspberry jello, cool whip, and raspberry jello. Then everyone topped their slices off with fresh blueberries and raspberries...YUMMY!

On our second day, we started off our morning with another delicious breakfast compliments of Brady and Abbey (man I could get used to this kind of treatment). Happy 4th of July!!!!

Coda was getting a little sleepy by this point in the weekend
We didn't waste much time getting ready for our day before we were out the door for a little shopping, sun, and lunch in downtown Leavenworth. We were so excited to find a lunch spot that allowed dogs on their patio, so we ate at South. We were even more impressed with how our dogs behaved at the restaurant!

"My Shiba Inu is smarter than your Honor Student"
Since the sun was out and we didn't want to waste it (remember, we don't see the sun all that much these days) we decided to head back to the KOA river beach with Nick and Lindsey and their doggies for a little more playtime after shopping. Coda discovered he LOVES to fetch water toys, but not so much sticks. And just as my new car decoration says....he IS smarter than your Honor Student because he found ways of fetching his toy by jumping on rocks and not getting wet!!
Family time at the river
See how smart he is about getting his toy and not getting wet!
This is the result of a VERY FUN day!
Our 4th of July dinner was made by Nick and Lindsey. They were going for the "All American Meal" of ribs, cornbread, salad, and potatoes. And dessert (yes there is more!) was apple pie. We all seriously regretted our little "happy hour" before dinner because we were stuffed!

Unfortunately all fun weekends must come to an end at some point, so on our moving out day we were quick to load up our cars, say goodbye, and head out. But since we had the whole day off we thought a hike would be fun before heading home. With a minor set back for the planned hike we eventually found a different hike that would still be fun. So we ended up hiking Icicle Gorge Trail River Loop (never knowing how long the actually loop was, just going off of recommendation from a park ranger that it was easy). 8 miles later, we completed our hike with some very hot and tired doggies! We had some amazing weather with clear blue sky and some awesome views on the river along the trail.

Overall, we had a fun and sunny weekend. The temperatures may not have been as hot as we had hoped, but we still know how to have fun with whatever we are given (that is something you HAVE to learn living in WA). The best part of all...we had one tired puppy when we got home!! And Jason...thanks for a great 5 years! Looking forward to many more!!
