Thanksgiving in WA with the Lumsden Family

What a crazy Thanksgiving holiday we had this year, but it sure made for a memorable one!  Jason's parents arrived on the 19th, making the long drive up here this year.  We had a great time getting to hang out with Scott and Glenda over the weekend, making sure to hit up the Redhook Brewery Tour.  Then it was back to work for me that following Monday, while Jason got to enjoy time off with his family.

Randomly, it started to snow and we got down to temps lower than we have had all year.  We laugh because the last Thanksgiving Jason's parents were here in WA, it was the ice storm of the year, and here we are again with majorly below freezing temps and snow.  Is it Scott and Glenda that always bring it???

I went to work on Monday and it snowed the entire day.  Glenda came and worked in my classroom to help my kids make their Christmas presents for next month.  She was a huge help to have in my room and the kids enjoyed the fun project!

The snow continued to come down and the roads began to freeze, so school got cancelled for the next two days!!!  I was not prepared for that, but I enjoyed the extra time I got to spend with family.  And Coda really enjoyed this new white stuff that he had to play in (even though it really didn't pile up too much).

So excited, he needed to dig his nose in the snow

Doesn't he look like he fits right in?!

Jason's brother Brian and his fiancee Bree arrived late Tuesday night.  We were a little worried they wouldn't make it in with how bad the weather had been.  But they made it and we were all relieved!

Thanksgiving was a fun time around our house.  We spent most of the day getting food prepped, walking the dogs in the snow, reading Black Friday ads, and just spending time catching up with each other.  We even had an added guest...Jason's aunt Faith who lives in Seattle.  Jason did an amazing job with our turkey and all of the food was just perfect!!  We all sure had a lot to be thankful for this year!

The following day was Black Friday and I was thrilled to be able to talk Jason's dad into coming out with us this year!!  I pulled the unimaginable and stayed up through the entire night and hit up my first store at midnight.  I dragged Jason and his dad back out with me at 3:30am where we stood in line for a 5am store opening.  The rain and wind made it a little more miserable this year, but it was still totally worth it!  I think I managed to stay up a total of 40 hours (I don't think I will ever do that again...it was rough!).

We ended our time together with a little walk along the Mukilteo Lighthouse Beach and then fun dinner at the Crab Pot where we enjoyed good crab/seafood and just all around good quality family time!  As the years go on it seems more and more difficult to get all of us together, so we treasure any time we get to spend ALL together like this one!

Thank you Scott, Glenda, Brian and Bree for coming to WA to spend Thanksgiving with us!  We are truly grateful for the time we got to spend with all of you!

  1. 40 HOURS without sleep??!! I can't it, that would have killed me. I love the picture of you teaching your class.... it's cute. I would consider moving up there if I knew you would be my kid's teacher, no joke!
