Pickin' the Perfect Pumpkin

This past weekend validated that we are indeed TRUE WASHINGTONIANS!!
We braved the pumpkin patch in drizzly weather WITH a toddler!

Family photo at the pumpkin patch

I really couldn't be much more proud of myself.  Not more than two or so years ago, I would have looked outside and saw that it was cloudy with a good chance of rain and decided it wasn't worth the chance of going out to possibly get rained on.  The new me looked out the window this afternoon and saw that it was sprinkling off and on and said "what the heck?!"

Let me also tell you that I really felt like I fit in with these Washingtonians for a change.  Everywhere we looked people big and small were in rain boots!  Well thank goodness I got my first pair last Christmas or I would have really felt like the odd one out today.  I did feel like a pretty awful parent though when every other kid was in a rain jacket and boots and here I am with my kid dressed in her nice little pink Stride Rites and cute hooded fleece (no jacket).  Ugh...time to buy Cammy some rain clothes!

We tried out a new pumpkin farm called The Farm at Swan's Trail.  This was the perfect place to go with a little one because there are so many kid friendly things to do beyond picking pumpkins.  Despite the off and on drizzle we still managed to have a fun time and look forward to coming back here in the years to come as Cammy gets older.

Ready to go pick out our pumpkins

"Is this the perfect pumpkin?"

I must say...
it was a successful day at the pumpkin patch for all of us!
