After Christmas "Chelanigans"

Some might call us crazy, but the day after Christmas my parents (we don't go anywhere without our reinforcements) and our new family of FIVE (including 20 day old Brielle!) packed everything up and headed to our timeshare in Lake Chelan for 5 days of snowy, cold fun on Dec. 26-31!

This was going to be a whole new experience for us as we have only experienced Chelan in the early and late summer months when it was sunny and warm/hot.  Never before have we been up there when the temps were in the teens as a high and the entire place was covered in beautiful white snow!

Beautiful icicles over our patio

Five days was the perfect amount of time to stay.  We filled our days with sledding (little did we know when we bought the place that we had the most popular sledding/tubing hill in the resort) right outside our front door, keeping warm inside, playing in the igloos that were built right near the unit my parents were staying in and swimming in the indoor pool.

We loved having my parents around while in Chelan!!!

Our big adventure of the trip was to Echo Valley (a small local tubing and ski hill) for some tubing with the kids.  We thought they would love it (especially our carefree little Hailey), but it did not go quite as planned for the littles.  Cammy went down once with Jason and cried after the fact and was bribed back up one more time if we bought her ice cream when we got back to our place (of course she liked it the second time down).  And Hailey got all the way up to the top of the hill and refused to go down on a tube, so Jason had to hike back down with her (if she was with mommy I would have sat her butt on a tube and sent her down the hill with me, like it or not).  The good news is that the boys (my dad and Jason) enjoyed themselves and had some kid free time of tubing while my mom and I fed the girls in the little lodge.

Snow angels!

Sometimes you just "mom up" and do what gets you somewhere the fastest!

So much fun to run into my friend Jenny while in Chelan!
(we coordinated going tubing together)

If only they looked this happy coming down on the tubes!

We love seeing friends while in Chelan!!!
(Cammy, Nathan, Addison and Hailey)

We look forward to many more winters in Chelan and watching the girls grow in what they are willing to try.  Maybe next year we can get one of them on skis?!  Or maybe more realistic wishes would be that the big girls will love tubing.  We can only hope!
