The big 6-0

On Valentine's weekend, we managed to pull off one of the best surprises for Jason's dad.  He was turning the big 6-0 on February 19th, so for him to suspect a surprise party the weekend before was not too likely.

Jason's mom planned a big surprise party for him at their house in CA and we flew there without him knowing to surprise him for his big party weekend.  Not only were we a surprise coming in, but Jason's brother and sister-in-law drove up from Pasadena as a surprise as well.

The surprise went off flawlessly!!  We hung out with my parents the morning we flew in and then when we knew Jason's dad, Scott, was off work and at home we drove over to their place to surprise him.  When we stepped out of the car with the girls he got the biggest smile on his face!!!  He was in shock...and we made Glenda play it off like she didn't know we were coming either just to really throw Scott off!  The whole trip was worth just that moment of surprise.

Little did Scott know we weren't just coming to visit and to come see my parents' house for the last time (since they just sold it and were getting ready to move).  The surprises were just beginning!!!

After our surprise arrival, we spent the next day touring my parents new house in Cameron Park, playing at Cameron Park Lake with the girls and of course visiting In N Out for lunch (a first stop every time we come to CA).

The following day, Valentine's Day was the big party day.  Jason's brother and sister-in-law arrived very late the night before (the surprise arrival for them had to be spilled early so Scott wouldn't hop out of bed with a shot gun when a car came into the driveway in the middle of the night).  We eventually had to tell Scott about the party, mostly for the mere fact that we needed his "man labor" to help set things up (making the birthday boy set up his own party...so wrong I know!).  The surprises were when the guests started to arrive...old friends and tons of family.  It was perfect!!!! How I managed to only take pictures of kids and NONE of the birthday boy himself...I have no idea. I'm a mom, I guess that's why.  I spent most of my party time playing and chasing after kids.

(Cammy- 3.5, Hailey- 14 mo, Bryce- 13.5 mo, Tatum- 3)

Sadly we had to fly back home the next day, but since it was a later flight we managed to fit in a little trip to the Folsom Zoo, a ride on the Folsom train and then lunch all together in old town Folsom.

We always love a good excuse to come home because these days it's so rare that the whole family can be together in one place, let alone be with the rest of the extended family as well.  Thanks for having a big birthday Scott!!!!  Here's to being 60, but still acting like your 25!
