A VERY Memorable 4th Birthday

Where did the time go?!  Our first born is already 4 years old as of August 29th!!!  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching my kids get older, smarter, funnier, develop their own personalities, and most importantly become more independent...but sometimes you just wish you could freeze time and let them be little forever!

In true Cammy style, we had a full blown Disney Princess birthday party where she personally requested that only her girlfriends were allowed to be invited (but little brothers were ok, just no big boys).

Little did we know that this particular party day would go down as one of the craziest storms of the year!  We always knew that the end of August would have iffy weather, but knowing that it's still summer we plan for her parties to be outdoors and hope for the best.  Looking back: 1st birthday- cooler but sunny, 2nd birthday- sunny, 3rd birthday- cold and slightly rainy, 4th birthday- severe wind, rain (until the party when it actually got sunny for a bit) and power outages.

When initially planning this party we planned for it to all be outside and we had reserved a bounce house for the kid entertainment.  Rain was always looking like it was in the forecast, so we were losing hope on the outdoor party idea and eventually had to cancel the bounce house rental.  Wind wasn't really in the picture until party day and that's when things got real.

We had over 30+ people in our house, kids making their own tiara pizzas, frosting and decorating their own cupcakes, playing games, decorating tiaras and crowns, etc.  We bought a pinata at the last minute and did that in our garage (amazing how fast a garage can become organized when you know everyone will be in it).

We attempted to do the tiara pizza making outside under a canopy, but things were blowing all over the place and it was practically raining pine needles on everyone's pizzas!  So that was a slight fail. After that, we decided who cared about messes and let the cupcake decorating happen in the house, wherever people wanted.

Thankfully through this entire storm our lights only flickered and we never officially lost power. Where all surrounding areas had no power for the day, some up to multiple days!!!  The worst that happened during our party was a neighbor's mid sized tree fell on a party goers car parked on the street.  Luckily no damage was done to the car!!

It was definitely a crazy, chaotic house for a few hours, but the kids were unphased and enjoyed every minute of it!!!  How would we ever have these crazy memories if things like this never happened to us?!  It definitely wasn't a pregnant woman's ideal day, but with my amazing family and friends the day came together and we were able to celebrate one very special 4 year old!!!

Happy 4th Birthday Cammy!!!!
