Lumsden Family Reunion

On Sept 20th we flew to Sacramento and made the drive up to Tahoe for a weekend of fun with the Lumsden extended family. We were there for only 2 nights and one full day, so we had to pack in all the fun in a really short time! We lucked out and had good weather (as I think I saw it snowed there not long after).

This year the family all gathered at Camp Richardson. We all stayed in different accommodations. Some stayed in the little hotel, some stayed at an RV park nearby and some, like us, stayed in a cabin.

This bear was sighted by a family member right near our cabin not long after we left for breakfast!!

We would do our own thing during the day and then gather together for dinners both nights. The first night was a "bring your own meat" BBQ and the second night was a nicer dinner in their boat house.

We would just send the girls to the bar to order their Shirley Temples

The 21st was our one full day in Tahoe. We started off with breakfast at Jason's parents' RV with Jason's brother, sister-in-law and their daughter. Then we visited South Lake and went to the Fire Fest at one of the casinos with some of the cousins. Afterward we parted ways and did our own thing, which ended up taking us to the bottom of Heavenly where we enjoyed lunch outside and all the craziness near the Heavenly gondola. It was so fun to be back in our old stomping grounds in Tahoe! At the end of the day we did a little bike ride with some of the cousins, which a total blast!

On the 22nd we headed home. We first had breakfast at the RV again. Then made a stop to visit the horses at the horse riding ranch nearby. Finally on our way out of Tahoe we stopped and had one last family gathering with whatever family members were still around at a little park right on the lake. We ate pizza and just let the kids all play. Afterwards on our way back to the airport we managed to squeeze in a really quick visit with my brother and his kids. No CA trip is complete without the cousins getting to see each other, even if it's a short visit!!!

I wish I had more pictures of the reunion, but I have yet to see the ones that were taken by others on the nice cameras. So for now, this will give you a glimpse of our weekend reunion in Tahoe.
