The Great "Summer Bucket List"

For the third year in a row we took on the fun, yet tiring, task of the "Summer Bucket List." We carefully chose some new activities that we haven't done before and we also added on some of our regular summer favorites. I tried to lessen the list from the last summer, but still ended up with 20 items that became hard to accomplish come the end of summer.

Let the fun begin!

#1: June 22nd we kicked off our bucket list by going to the movies to see Toy Story 4.

The whole family watching Toy Story 4

#2: June 23-26 the girls got to go on a 3-day RV trip with their G-ma and Grandpa in Leavenworth. That meant I got 3 solids days to myself to do super fun adult things...like clean the house!

All ready to go RVing

Buckled up and ready to go!

#3: June 28th we managed to squeeze in a last minute trip to go berry picking at Biringer Farm. We kind of waited too late into the season and the strawberries weren't very plentiful or big as previous years. But the raspberries were yummy and ripe!

Everybody on the bus!

#4: June 29th was the Run of the Mill 5k and kids fun run. Cammy completed her first 5k with me and my mom (barely walking at all) and Hailey and Brielle did a fun run together.

Both Cammy and Grams placed in their divisions!

#5: July 1st we went to Remlinger Farms with our close friends the Yanceys (and a few other close friends) while they were visiting from Arizona. We celebrated their daughter, Penelope's, 5th birthday at the farm doing rides, petting animals and riding horses. This is always a favorite place to visit each summer!

#6: July 7th we went to a Mariners baseball game with our friends, the Mitchells and we rode the light rail into the game.

#7: July 21st was a family hike day! We hiked to Cherry Creek Falls, which was a 5 mile round trip hike. This was Hailey's first big hike and all the kids did great and seemed to enjoy the fun water destination at the end!

To the falls!

We love when my mom can join us!

#8: July 22nd was spent doing and afternoon of open swim at the McCollum Park Pool.

These girls love to swim in the summer!!!

#9: July 28th we spent the day at Emerald Downs with some friends for Family Day. The kids also got to run on the horse racing track and end in the winners circle with a free ice cream sandwich.

We love coming to the track!

Cammy was a big $4 winner!

#10: July 29th we met up with some school friends to play at the splash pad at the Edmonds City Park (one of our favorite splash pads).

We love hanging out with the Burnett girls

#11: August 3rd we did another summer favorite...a backyard campout! One of these days we will get out of our backyard and into the woods for a real campout.

#12: August 4th was spent kayaking on Lake Stevens with our family, Grams and Grandpa (G-ma was out of town so she missed out).

Cammy paddled Hailey around a little

#13: August 7th we went to our one and only kids concert this summer (usually we go to at least a couple) with a couple of Hailey's old preschool friends. Cammy was in a summer camp at this time, so it actually worked out perfectly since she is getting a little old for these concerts. This concert was at Bothell Landing Park, which is somewhere we have never done a concert at, but it was great!

#14: August 9th we made our regular summer visit to the Point Defiance Zoo. This zoo is a lot of fun for us because they have 2 different aquariums and some different animals from our local zoo. We enjoyed some great animal sightings and a fun animal show.

Love the view at the zoo!

This octopus was quite lively

#15: August 13th we went with a couple of our old friends (who we really only get to see on school breaks these days) on the Edmonds Kingston Ferry. We walked on and took a picnic lunch to eat on the other side. We had grand plans to visit the candy store and get ice cream at Mora, but apparently Tuesdays are the day of the week that places are closed...go figure!

Walking onto the ferry with some friends

We love ferry riding!

And the moms

#16: August 25th we went to Jetty Island with our family (hooray daddy got to come this time since it was on a weekend) and G-ma and Grandpa. We had totally written it off that we wouldn't make it this summer because the tide didn't look great at the times we could go. But Jason's parents planned it and the tide was steadily rising as we were there. It was actually quite fun!

So fun to have G-ma, Grandpa and daddy with us this time!

#17: August 25th we decided to give the dogs a bath since we were already in our swimsuits. Initially our plan was to take them to a doggie spa place, but it seemed easiest to just wash them at home since they have become horribly socialized around other dogs.

#18: August 27th my mom and I took the girls to the Evergreen State Fair. It was a very warm day, but we all had a blast riding rides, seeing animals and watching some shows (Cammy and I even got to participate in the duck races personally). Hailey and Cammy really surprised me this year by riding some of the bigger kid rides with no fear.

Just hanging with a llama in the CRAZY petting zoo

Grams was a big kid for the day and rode all the rides with the girls

#19: Sept. 1st was a family bike ride day. Both my mom and Jason's parents joined us. We only rode a short 2 miles on the Centennial Trail to lunch at Trails End and then a short 2 miles back. It was the perfect distance for the girls and just fun to be out on our bikes again all together!

Ready to set off on our little ride to lunch

I love having two kids riding on their own now!

We finished our ride by doing a little extra with Brielle on her own bike

#20: Unfortunately we weren't able to complete our last bucket list item...Deception Pass. The weather turned nasty fast and our sunny weekends were quickly gone. Once school was in full swing again, the weekends were more for some downtime or catch up. We'll just have to add it to the list next summer and I am totally ok with it!

And yet another summer of fun comes to an end!!!
