Typically, everyone brings 3 gifts...one worth $20, one worth $10 and one that is from their home. We use a gift from each price range as the "pot" for each round. And the way to win the "pot" is that you are the winner of the game that was chosen for that round.
For two years we did just professionally manufactured games, another year we added in our own versions of games (that didn't go as well as we had hoped and Battleship has yet to make an appearance at our gift exchange since), and this year we decided to add in a little Wii bowling. The Wii worked amazingly well and seemed to be enjoyed by all.
Of course the best part of this gift exchange is seeing what will be brought each year and what gifts will make a second, third or maybe a fourth appearance for the "home" gifts. This year definitely didn't disappoint, as one of the memorable "home" gifts was a box of 9 rolls of toilet paper (Jason was the lucky winner of this "wonderful" gift). And of course 2 Shake Weights had to make an appearance as well...we just couldn't resist (Leia was the lucky winner of one of them)!
All in all we always have a great time eating, playing games and opening presents, more eating, hanging out, and more eating! Here's to MANY more years of this fun tradition with friends!!
Playing a round of Scattergories for the "pot" of gifts in the middle
Another round of Apples to Apples for a new "pot" of gifts
Who says Sex and the City and a Beer Making Kit aren't a good gift combo for a guy?!
Jason opening up his gifts (a blanket that was stolen)
A little excited about getting my own Shake Weight!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
We hope you are finding ways to enjoy it just like we are!!!
