We're Proud to be Americans!!

4th of July was pretty low key this year since we are now "tied down" with a cat, two dogs and a baby (all of who freak out once the fireworks start firing off).

Thanks for the shirts Glenda!!!

We started our day off with a picnic and swinging at a local park.  We were trying to get out and back home before Cammy's afternoon nap, so we had to get out a little early.  This proved to be a good idea anyway (thank you Cammy!), since as we were leaving everyone else continued to arrive setting up their "camp" for the afternoon.  The temps weren't really that warm yet, so it wasn't the most perfect picnicing conditions.  We still managed to have fun in the short time we were there.

Later in the day we headed over to our friends', Nick and Lindsey's house for a BBQ.  We enjoyed some warmer sun than we had earlier in the day and had a fun time just hanging out together watching our doggies play while catching up.

Our pinterest creations (Lindsey made the drink, I made the cake)

The dogs wanted to be a part of our family photo too!

I guess this is her "sexy" pose?

I was so proud of how the inside of the cake turned out!!

I wish I had happy things to say about the nighttime fireworks excitement, but I have nothing positive to say about it!!  As the fireworks got more and more intense, our house just began to fall apart slowly.  First Keela (our female Shiba) got freaked and wanted to be glued to us at all times.  Then Coda (our male Shiba) started panting and whining and became glued to us.  Then our kitty Rascal became MIA and was nowhere to be found (us thinking that he is outside in the "combat zone" scared to death).  And lastly, after being asleep for nearly an hour and a half, Cammy got startled awake from the loud booms and needed to be consoled.  All in all, our night ended around 11:30pm with Rascal still missing and the rest of us (2 dogs, a baby and us) all in bed together.  And in case you were wondering, Rascal was found in the morning in our house, so he must have had some gret hiding place!!

Next year...we are definitely going somewhere for the 4th of July where fireworks are illegal!!
