A Visit From CA Relatives

My dad's sister, Karen, and her husband, Lonny, had planned to come up and visit so they could see my dad and visit us of course. Little did they know that right around the time of their visit new changes would be happening for my dad's living situation AND that they would be coming during Seattle's "Snowmageddon"!

They arrived on Friday, Feb. 8th, which was just the start of the next big snow storm ready to hit. They arrived to a snowy Seattle and got stuck in major traffic of everyone trying to get home before the big snow arrived. They headed home on Monday, the 11th and the snow was still going, which then delayed them at the airport for a bit.

I was so happy that his storm hit on the weekend, so Jason didn't have to worry about going into work and could stay home and enjoy the snow with us!

Since the snow never really melted from the first big storm, it was not hard for it to pile up quickly. We woke up one morning and we had 11 inches of snow! It didn't take long until we reached 16 inches! I had never seen so much snow in my life where I live!!

We reached a foot of snow on Feb. 11th!

Where did our deck furniture go on Feb. 12th?!

You can't even see the stairs off of our deck!

Our front yard on Feb. 12th with very weighted down trees!

We all embraced the snow and spent endless hours playing in it! My house looked like a crazy mess with snow gear laid out everywhere to dry and towels covering my floors downstairs to avoid all the melted snow getting tracked in. A full 2 weeks of this craziness in my house was plenty!

The girls LOVED having Karen and Lonny here! They were full of fun and energy and practically a new set of grandparents for the kids to have fun with. Lonny did a fabulous job taking over the roll of "grandpa" that the girls have been missing having around!

Thanks Grams for the sled big enough for 3!

We had a lot of fun on this sled!

A rare snowy family picture since Jason is usually working

The dune racer didn't work as well in the deeper powdery snow

Getting pulled on the sled to the high school

We found a fun sledding hill with Karen and Lonny at the high school ball fields

Pure bliss in the snow!

We rode these sleds for days and days!

Can you believe we fit 4 of us on this giant sled?!

Hot tubbing in the snow was pretty fun with these girls!

Thankfully things were going well for my dad adjusting to his new place, so we were able to get over there for a visit. What a special reunion for my dad and his sister, even if he didn't really realize who she was.

A special visit from Karen and Lonny

My mom was so anxious about bringing a group of us to see my dad, but was so happy that it all went well!

After a weekend full of family fun and snow fun, it was nice to go back into the next week with no school due to more snow days!!
