Jason and I decided that since it was about a 7 hour drive, it would be best to break it into two days, so we left after work on Friday, July 1st. Brilliant idea considering my bladder is not lasting as long as it used to, and the dogs don't really care to be in the car that long either.

We met the family in Sun River, Oregon, which is about right in the middle for all of us, on July 2nd. We had stayed in Sun River for Jason's big family reunion last summer and have wanted to take my family there to show them what a cool place it was.
We lucked out and got a great house to stay in! Wished I would have taken a picture of it, but oh well. The dogs thought they were in heaven with so much space to run around in, but they also thought the backyard (not fenced) looked like quite a fun "dog park" and always wanted to be out there off their leash (that didn't always go so well).
We were able to enjoy some warmth, sunshine, BBQ, Deschutes Brewery Tour, pool time, games, 4th of July festivities, walks to the river, and just some relaxation.
A walk on the bike trails to the river
The rest of the group up on the bridge

4th of July walk to the river
Trying to get the dogs to go in the water
4th of July
Just missing Russ and Amber (they had to leave early in the morning)
This was also our anniversary weekend (6 years) and we were happy to be able to spend it with family! Thanks for making it a memorable weekend!!!
