Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

You be the judge on how you thought our visit with Santa went this year...

We started with a family picture to ease into it, but should have known better than to put Brielle on Santa's lap

So we switched it up and moved Cammy and Brielle

Then we snuck away.
At least we are making progress with Hailey not taking off and running this year!

Do you think we might possibly have TWO smiling kids next year????

Thanksgiving 2016

This was the first year in I don't even know how long that we didn't have any family here for Thanksgiving and didn't even host!!! It was sort of a nice feeling knowing that we didn't have to prepare a huge meal and do all the dishes afterwards. Instead this year our amazing friends, Matt and Meghan Sutherlin, invited us over with their family and hosted a fabulously yummy dinner! Friends are the family we choose and we sure lucked out in that department because we are never left alone when family isn't here!!!

Trying to get a picture of these 3 is nearly impossible these days!

Final Stroller Strides Class

I knew the day was coming soon...my final Stroller Strides class, but I honestly thought I might make it a little longer since Brielle and Hailey still do fine in the stroller.

My back surgery was kind of my "page turner" so to speak. It sort of showed me that I needed an exercise where I didn't feel like I pushed myself with my still recovering back. It also made me realize while being out for so long that I really kind of lost the connection I used to have with moms. I was now one of maybe 2 moms that had three kids. Most everyone else had just one and they were all tiny babies. It was hard to connect with moms when I really wasn't in the same boat as them by a long shot and there were few kids that were Hailey's age that she could connect with.

It was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. I had spent the last 5 years of my life with Stroller Strides and I REALLY loved instructing classes. Stroller Strides saved me as a new first time parent! Having that place to go every day and friends who held me accountable to be there was so motivating! And I love that my kids had Stroller Strides as a role model for a healthy life!

Today I still ask myself daily..."was this the right decision for me?" I know I just need to get myself into a new regular fitness routine in order for me to feel like I made the right decision. And maybe if I miss instructing so much, I might have found my new calling as some sort of fitness instructor when I'm ready to go back to work. Who knows! But November 2nd was the end of a HUGE chapter in my life and I am so ready to see where the next chapter leads me!

My reasons for doing Stroller Strides!

Halloween Festivities

We kept ourselves busy the few days before Halloween this year!

After hearing about the local high school down the street always doing a family friendly harvest fair each year, we finally ventured over there with the girls all dressed up to see what it was all about. It was great! Everything was free, lots of fun games and tons of candy!!! We definitely will find ourselves back here each year!

Doing the cake walk

The following day we went to a family Halloween party at one of our friend's houses. We all dressed up and had a fun night of hanging out, catching up with friends and watching the kids all play with each other. I LOVE having such an amazing social circle where we can do these types of things!

Don't you love our costumes?!

Tried to get a mom picture but of course the kids had to join in too!

The day before Halloween we got the kids dressed up for a 3rd time (at this point they were both starting to actually get tired of wearing their costumes and Cammy even asked if she could dress up in something different...like last year's costume) and went to Cammy's old preschool at Gold Creek Church, where they have a big Halloween "Eye Spy" type event. Lots of games, food, bounce houses and a checklist of characters you had to find to check off a "passport" type paper. It was a little too crowded this year and not quite as enjoyable as previous years, so this might have been our last year doing this one.

Finally the little unicorn got to dress up!

After the church event, we came home and carved our pumpkins. It was so much fun to see how into it Cammy as this year! She wanted to be a part of every bit of her pumpkin carving from cleaning our all the seeds, to designing the face, to drawing it on the pumpkin, to carving it with daddy's help. Hailey of course wanted nothing to do with the yucky pumpkin stuff!

Finally after a few days of Halloween related events the actual day was here!! And both girls were pretty much over being in their costumes by now...ha! The weather looked iffy all day and of course right when we set out to trick-or-treat the rain began and it literally didn't stop until we got home. It was a slightly less enjoyable experience and even less enjoyable after Hailey slipped on a wet driveway. We tried to be troopers with our umbrellas and all, but didn't stay out quite as long as we usually would. Still way more candy than we ever needed though!

And this little one refused to finish the night off trick-or-treating in our cul-de-sac, but instead wanted to hand out candy in her undies and slippers :)

Wow...that was a busy end of October!  Makes me tired just sitting down and writing about all of it! Until next year!

Pumpkin Pickin' 2016

Since living here in WA, October of this year felt like the most rainy Halloween season we have ever had! Usually during the month of October I find myself with the kids frequenting pumpkin patches to enjoy all the fall fun, but this year we only made it once! There was probably only one good sunny weekend right at the beginning of the month and the rest were pretty darn rainy. So finally by Oct. 22nd we decided if we didn't make it to get pumpkins we never would. And although it wasn't raining, it was definitely muddy and wet and there were so many people at The Farm that it just wasn't even fun to do all the activities they had to offer.

Low and behold we got the job done and picked our pumpkins, took a tractor hay ride, rode the cow train, raced some rubber duckies and did a hay maze...all while having fun with friends. Hopefully next year will be a lot less rainy!

Cougar Pride Award

One month into kindergarten we received an email from Cammy's teacher that she was the first kid in her class to be chosen to receive the "Cougar Pride Award." Each teacher picks one child a month to receive this award and they are chosen by demonstrating being polite, responsible, independent, doing their best and everyone cooperating.

This award was a surprise to Cammy and she didn't even know that we would be at her assembly on Oct. 20th, so it was a lot of fun for all of us!  We couldn't have been more proud as parents to know that our child was acknowledged for her outstanding behavior and leadership skills only after being in kindergarten for just one month!!

First Day of KINDERGARTEN!!!!

After weeks of being asked "when do I get to go to kindergarten?"...the day had finally arrived!! On Sept. 12th Cammy woke up smiling, excited and ready to go to school right away.  It was a great feeling for us seeing how excited she was about starting school. Of course it was mixed emotions for me thinking about Cammy being gone all day, not really knowing anyone, being in a new school and now losing the one kid who could entertain the littles so I didn't have to...haha! In all seriousness though, we were so excited for Cammy to begin this journey, be able to watch her blossom on her own, and just spread her wings and fly a bit.

The sisters wanted to be in a picture too!
