How a One Year Old Celebrates a Birthday

The bar was set high for a first birthday party when I decided to throw Cammy a really nice party when she turned one.  So obviously I felt a sense of guilt not doing the same for my second baby. The trouble was that a summer birthday is much easier to plan, throw and invite whoever you want because it can be outside.  A winter birthday is much trickier as you have to be indoors and our house surely isn't going to hold all the people that usually are at Cammy's parties!

So to still keep the party standard high like her sister's we decided to have Hailey's birthday party on Saturday, Dec. 13th, at a fun indoor play place called PlayHappy Cafe.  The theme of Hailey's first birthday was "Winter ONEderland" and we kept it really girlie with the pinks and greys and frills.  Deciding who to invite was hard, but since there were so many little girls born close to Hailey it worked out perfectly.

We were really looking forward to watching Hailey dive into her smash cake.  Seeing how this kid can make a mess with food at almost any meal, it seemed like a for sure thing that she would get messy.  Surprisingly she followed in her sister's footsteps and was not interested in making a mess and seem to prefer the cake when it was feed to her by her daddy.

Although a winter birthday is less than ideal in my little party planning world, we managed to still have a great time indoors celebrating with a few close family and friends.

Do we really have a ONE YEAR OLD NOW?!

Excited!

And then this was the extent of a mess
(we were surprised considering this kid LOVES food)

Cake is better off a fork I guess

After the birthday party and a good nap for the birthday girl we were able to open all of the presents from her party.
