A Different Kind of Birthday

My dad turned 63 on Oct. 8th. It was definitely a different kind of birthday celebration than we were used to since my dad was newly living at Brookdale. But we made it a fun little celebration for him by coming to Brookdale and having a little party in their "country kitchen" (a place that families can reserve to do their own private family events). We brought gifts, my mom made his special lady finger birthday cake that he has every single birthday, and we even attempted a game of Zingo (which he wasn't too interested in). And what made this birthday extra special was that Jason's parents and my mom's sister, Kathy (who flew in all the way from Santa Barbara) were there to celebrate with us!! I sure do treasure these moments recently knowing that one day soon these precious memories will be just that...memories.
