A Final Summer Visit to the Island

Summer is always a busy time for us.  That is when the kids get back into swim lessons, we have more activities planned on weekends due to nice weather and it seems to be birthday party central for the girls' friends during the summer.  With all of these circumstances, it makes it hard to find time to get to the island to visit my parents on a weekend. Thankfully, we found one totally free weekend before the summer was over to go visit. And nothing made the weekend more perfect than the perfectly warm weather we had while there!!!

On August 12th the girls and I set out to go to Anderson Island.  Jason couldn't get off early from work, so he drove down separately with the dogs after work.  Unfortunately that got him stuck in some major traffic, had him miss the ferry by about 2 cars and he and the dogs didn't arrive until about 9pm that night. Despite the long trip there for him, it was nice that we could all spend the weekend together having a little family fun.

We soaked up the amazing summer weather with some time at the lake, harvesting some veggies to eat for dinner from my parents' garden, hanging with the neighbors, playing with the much loved dollhouse and playing down at the beach. We love how much the girls love visiting this special place and it's so fun for us to make so many great memories there!!
