Time for the toddler bed transition...or not

We have been having a harder time putting Brielle to sleep each night because she is just getting so big and a lot more wiggly when we try and rock her. Rocking her is something that I have held onto as long as possible because she is my last baby. But we had this grand idea that maybe if we made her crib into a toddler bed that we would be able to lay next her bed until she fell asleep instead of rocking her.

The toddler bed is set up and ready for night #1

Well we should have guessed on the first night (Sept. 9th) when she refused to lay in her bed and insisted on being rocked that this wasn't going to work. Then came the worst 10 nights of sleep that we have had in a long time. It was like having a newborn all over again. Brielle would get out of her bed numerous times during the night and walk down to our room and wake us up (by "us" I mean "mommy"). We would try and re-rock her, but eventually caved and just shoved her in bed with us (which has always been something that she never would do...sleep with us) so we could get a little more sleep. By the tenth night we were done and decided to go back to the crib to see if that helped us get some sleep.

Goodbye toddler bed, hello crib!

The crib has been going ok, but she still wakes up once or twice a night. At least now she can't walk out of her room and get us and has to call for us instead. We plan to give it another try maybe once she turns 2 and see if she does any better.
