Hiking Buddies

Ever since I have lived in WA I have only done hikes with Jason as my sidekick. On August 11th I stepped out of my comfort zone a bit and did a challenging hike (one that I had done with Jason pre-kids) with one of my close friends, Adrea, up Mt. Pilchuck.

The last time I hiked Mt. Pilchuck I did it on August 15th on a really warm day. It was a hot hike, but the view was amazing at the top...perfectly clear! This time was completely the opposite and literally at almost the same time of the month. We had clouds and a little bit of drizzle on our hike (hard to tell if it was our sweat or the drizzle). There was no view at the top, but the feeling of accomplishment was still just as great!

Here we go!

So many boulders!!!

See up at the top...that's the lookout tower we have to boulder climb to!

At the top...no view

The only way down from the lookout tower

Living on the edge

Hiking down

A little clearing on the way back down

Apparently this is a Pika sitting on the rocks

It just felt so great to get out there again and prove to myself that I can do a nice steep climb hike (it's only a 5.4 mile round trip hike, but the hike is a steady incline the entire way which is what makes it challenging) and I can do it on my own!
